SGES Community

What is the SGES Community page? It’s a place where you can share your research successes, comment on items published in our society’s publications or ask/answer questions. It’s our own little virtual community center.

How does it work? We are taking advantage of the comments area at the bottom of this page and each of our online publications. Below you see what the comment box looks like.

Weekend Update comments

Click in the “Start the discussion…” box and start typing your comment. Your comment can include links to other sites and even photos! Just click on the little image icon in the box below the comment and it will walk you through finding and uploading a photo. You can log in with either your Disqus, Facebook, Twitter or Google account. If you don’t have one of these accounts, you can create a Disqus account in seconds by entering your name in the box provided. You will also be prompted for an email address and password to complete the signup. You’ll find detailed information on registering and using Disqus at their online help desk.

Want to take a test drive before responding to something on one of our publications? The comment box at the bottom of this page is a good place to start.

Speaking of publications . . . Did you know that each Weekend Update and Legacy Newsletter is also archived at SGES Online? You’ll find them in the Publications menu located at the top of every page on the site. In addition, email subscribers will find a link to each update and newsletter at the bottom of its email message as shown in the example below.

Why is this useful? You are about to see Weekend Update become more than just a news service. We hope it will spark conversations and inspire research efforts. If you would like to comment on an article, share a research success or participate in a discussion, you can do it from that issue’s online page.
